How dare they, these guys from Dynamic Parcel Distribution (formerly known as Deutscher Paket Dienst)!
I was waiting at a traffic light the other day and suddenly this truck was driving by having the Unity logo on its side. My mind was somewhere else at that moment so it took me a few seconds to get it right. At first I really thought Iād see the Unity logo on that truckās side.
of course i have known this DPD logo forever, but you just switched a light on in my head - my brain never made this connection, but yes: they are damned similarā¦
Well back here in Europe sueing people over everything just tends to be a myth. Even if you sue the microwave company that didnt say it not ok to dry a cat in there, and win, youād only get a small sum of money
When it comes to trade marks, suing in defense of them isnāt just being litigious (companies donāt generally do it for the money), but because you HAVE to do that if you donāt want your trade mark to be invalidated at some point in the future.
But yeah, Iāve seen those vans around Dublin too and had a similar thought. I imagine the classes covered by their trade mark are sufficiently different from Unity to not conflict, though. Itās not too likely youād confuse a postal service for a game engine!
The Unity logo is both a cube and three vectors. It also has an interesting perspective. And the vectors have white outlines, in case the logo is on a dark background. DPD has a long way to go to catch up, folks.
