I’m creating an fps (for Android) with a friend of mine. He does the job on Blender, I on Unity. Everything was going fine, I made a terrain, sculpted it, started texturing it, etc… and yesterday I decided to switch the platform from Pc Standalone to Android. I’m not sure whether that’s is what caused the problem. It took maybe 10 or 15 minutes Unity to finish all the computing, resizing, I’m not actually sure what of those it does, but you understand… After that the game was ruined, it looked as a crap (especially the textures). I was very angry and also found that each time I start-up Unity it starts the same process over and over again. Another thing I discovered is that most of the Unity files: assets, scenes, system files and so on are being rewriten, not once but twice, on some places even more. For example if we have, let’s say an asset called ‘terraing.asset’, there will be also ‘terrain@90fgns93g0032fd.asset’ and ‘terrain@cc11720jhj20ask’ files. I’ve deleted a ton of these + uninstalled the Unity. I would like to know how to stop this process because anyway my pc is from the slow ones andI would have to work with the program in near future, in order to continue my job. It behaves like a virus but at the same time it’s not. I reinstalled the first unity, now I’ll reinstall the one on my hdd. Even if that fix my problem, please tell me what may cause such behviour cuz I don’t want to repeat the same. Also, if it’s not too insolently, tell me whether I can work on the PC Standalone mode and when I finish the game just to build it as and Android one or it’s necessary, when making a game, to work in the Android mode. So, yeah, I need some help.
You can take a closer look on the screen shop below.
Have you tried deleting your Library and Project Settings folders? This may help. I am not sure. I’ve never seen an issue like this. Which version of Unity are you using?
Yeah, there was a messige which was telling me to delete the project’s library folder, I deleted it but not the project settings.I think it is Unity 4.5.5f or maybe the next ver. :\ I got rid of everything, all the assets I’ve downloaded, monodevelop, all the system unity files, just moved some projects to other folders in order to keep them unaffected. Now it’s better, I’ve reinstalled completely the program but I want to know how to avoid this next time. Because of the mysterious reason Unity decided to rewrite itself
I honestly don’t know exactly how to avoid that specific error, as I’ve never seen it before. Fortunately, if it ever happens again (which we hope it won’t), you know how to fix it. (:
