A Maya shading / texturing quetion

Please watch the following link:

I just encountered to a problem in maya that I never thought of before. The main landscape is created from multiple objects, which is combined together to form a shingle object. Each of these objects has a material with specific texture from google earth assigned to them! I already came up with an idea how to create a single object from multiple objects, however I still can not think of any way to transfer all those materials and textures to a single material and single texture for the single object! (more explanation: I want to project all those materials and textures to the above single mesh and bake them as a single material!). Does anyone know any solution with help of maya 2010/2011 or mudbox 2011?

That should be quite easy with texture baking, but what might be even simpler is to just render a orthographic view from the top. If those textures are from google earth they’re projected from the top anyway, so just rendering a top view would give you a nice big texture of all of them.

Just make sure you align your camera and your UVs and you’re done.

Thanks arnage,
I was kind of struggling with “Transfer maps” in rendering section. but somehow my computer froze each time I tried to bake all those materials from all those meshes to a single mesh (this method was working properly when I tested with small number of objects for instance 2 or 3 objects though). However the rendering idea of yours was perfect. It was a shame for me to not come up with this idea!
thanks BTW
