A problem with blender imports

I have tried to import two test models into unity from blender. What I do is just save the blend file in the unity asset folder. When I open unity the blend files do show up in the asset view and I can drag them to the scene view or the project view. But when I do they do not show up in the scene view. All i see is the gizmos for the objects in the scene view. I have tried to scale up the object in the unity inspector and the best I get is a solid cube.

I have attached a screen shot to show you what I mean. What am I doing wrong.?

The only clue I can suggest is that it seems that you don’t have a mesh imported. It looks like you have only the Transform for the GameObject.

I’m on a mac, not a PC, and that’s the only difference I know about now. We’re both using unity 2.6 and blender 2.49.

Look below: See all the content but under the models in the Project Window and the in the GameObjects in the Hierarchy?

Here’s my screen shot:

I found a solution. I exported the meshs and the armatures using the blender fbx exporter and saved them in the unity project asset folder. I then opened unity and everything was there. All I needed to do was scale the models up.

What mystifies me is why the “save the blend file to the unity asset folder” procedure did NOT work?

Could you raise a bug (with your model/project) and send a case a number to me? I’ll see if there is actual problem.

Raise a bug?

There is “Help\Report a bug” menu in Unity. This allows to submit a bug to our internal database. Later you should get a confirmation in your email with case number (I need that number - that way I can find your bug).
