So, lately I’ve been travelling Europe while writing apps.
But I’m running into technical hurdles.
Google Play is now requiring a “physical address” to publish to the store.
Bank accounts also require a “physical address”
So this situation can’t last forever. What I’m looking for is some sort of service where a company deals with my mail and can email me if I get any mail and also I could have a part share in a “physical address”. I wouldn’t actually live there. But it could be my official address, I could get my post there, etc. (I know that there is such a service called “your parents” but this might not always be the case!)
Is this at all possible/legal? How do travelling people have bank accounts or do they just store their money under their bed?
It is possible to get a virtual office. I used one a few years ago. It gave me a postal address, a presence on their office space website, access to meeting rooms, etc. I think they could even take phone calls and forward the caller onto your mobile, but I never used that.
It cost me about £25 a month back then, probably more now. It was a service available as part of an incubator project providing office space for creative businesses. You might be able to find one linked to a local council or university in the area you are from.
Wow, that sounds great! So cheap too. But maybe they have restrictions on who can use it. I wonder if I could use it for the Google Play “physical address” or bank address. Don’t see why not.
One thing I might worry about if it was a fraud and they opened all my post and stole my identity!
I have met folks here in the US who travel the country in motor homes after selling their physical home. I asked them once about the need to have a physical address for voting and taxes. They told me they use mail forwarding services. If you google you might find some.
The one I used required me to be local (but was allowed to continue when I moved away) and be approved.
A quick Google search for virtual offices showed 3 options that were based in the small city I live in, and loads that are available nationally, with different options for the level of service you want.
My post was never opened. I had a choice of going in to pick it up, or get it forwarded to me (a fee if the volume exceeded more than a handful).
