Hey, we have a bunch of music ‘takes’, which we could turn into clips and bits that last, oh II don’t kow, like 30 seconds each, some less some more. We’re wondering if there’s much interest and demand amongst video, CG and game artists to have access to a library where they can buy mp3 or similar formats like .wav and do that at emusic or iTunes? There’s no such category yet AFAIK, something to start and try?
It’s trance, electronica, some suitable for such things as battle scenes/chases.
Why iTunes? I’m positive anybody searching for a soundtrack can do better than the iTunes search field. They send protected files anyway.
There’s this:
http://freeplaymusic.com/
and a bunch of others, I’m sure.
…but I’m afraid you’ve lost me.
I have used freeplay a few times. Most of it’s a little corney and there are not to many songs good for games. But they do have a huge library of music, check it out.

Their cornyness knows no bounds. I have found a few gems in there suitable for some games though. I can recognise their tunes played on TV sometimes.
Besides freeplay I would suggest iCompositions. You’ll need to ask each artist’s permission before using their song(s) in your game(s) but the folks on iComp are pretty cool too.
Search for songs that are Creative Commons licensed. If you look around you can find quite a big variety. MacJams.com is better than iCompositions because every song is clearly marked with the type of CC license (i.e. CC BY). So as long as the song isn’t marked non-commercial you can use it in your game, just be sure to give credit to the artists. In fact, I’ve contacted some of my favorite artists, from macjams, to told them that I would like to use thier music… they all were thrilled.
Allthough the file format needs tobe converted, ModArchive has some nice stuff too. Just be sure to ask the author if it is alright to use the song in your game. I have a small collection I picked up there.
Unity should play tracker formats… just to be all cool and oldschool.
