HI Guys
Just floating an idea out there. I thought of this kind of gameplay the moment I saw the Wii U. Pretty certain Nintendo figured this out on day one but are repositioning the Wii U as a competitor for single person console games so decided to let the obvious occur to other developers. I’ve not see anyone talking about this sort of gameplay though so I thought as I can’t get it made I would throw it out there.
The idea is simple. A cross country rally game where the driver uses a wii remote and plays on the TV screen the navigator controls the wii u gamepad and has the mini-map and directs the driver verbally like a navigator in an actual cross country race. See the image
I dare say we will see loads of these soon. BIt of a no-brainer. Anyone else think this would make fun gameplay for the wii u?
I can see this leading to many arguments between player one and player two
Yes, good clean fun. The screaming would probably reach the high decibels, and the final - ‘You bloody drive if you’re so good’ would bring back all the bad back seat driver experience one ever had.
I often do this with my girlfriend in open world driving games. It’s a great idea, though I don’t think it necessarily needs to be two player. I’d love just to have the map visible without having to pause the game sometimes.
@angrypenguin - you are right of course, that’s what Zombie U does, put the mini-map on the gamepad (plus other stuff). I’m just showcasing a kind of co-operative play that could be done with the Wii U that is pretty obvious but no-one seems to be pointing out. In fact when I saw the Wii U I thought most games would be like this where one had the option to play in tandem with someone.
