Uncompressed audio will take up a very large amount of memory. I see from the document that 2021 changelog said it support audio compression. But in fact, opening Unity2019 also has the “Compressed in Memory” option. So I want to know what’s the difference between the new audio compression provided in 2021?
Before 2021, all audio is decompressed at runtime, regardless of the audio asset setting. So while it’s compressed on disk, it’s decompressed in memory. With the compressed audio support added to 2021, it will remain compressed in memory.
Got it, thanks
