In 3D view I can’t zoom very close to the objects, they disappear like this:,

the way you do this is by first selecting the object you want to see and then press F to focus on it. Then you can zoom really close and it will show correctly.
If you don’t want to select and you are navigating freely in the 3D scene adjust the editor camera clipping planes from Dynamic to manual and add a low number on the Near option.
these options can be found by clicking on the camera icon near the Gizmo button (top right in your screenshot)
but using the F trick will help you navigate faster around the scene and when rotating so see what you like best
