Access to 2023.1.0a3

Hi,

The bug we reported long ago finally got fixed but only in 2023.1.0a3 which is not available to the public: Unity Issue Tracker - Crunched Asset Bundle sprites are too bright when loaded from file in Play mode

Is there a way we can get access to this so we can test it?

You can get 2023.1.0a3 here: Unity 2023.1.0a3 download files
Or if you’d prefer to install through Unity Hub: unityhub://2023.1.0a3/f4fb871d59a7

Thank you!

Thanks @TheZombieKiller - any links to what’s new or improved in 2023 vs. 2022 ?

Well it seems that you can’t use 2023 even if you wanted because there are missing packages.

There are no changelogs available for 2023.1.a1/2/3 as of today, unfortunately.

What is new in HDRP 15?

https://github.com/Unity-Technologies/Graphics/commits/master/Packages/com.unity.render-pipelines.high-definition

You can see 14 new commits since they bumped the version to 15 so not much yet.

Usually xxxx.1 releases have very few to no new features when it comes to graphics, the last few years unity keeps most big features for the xxxx.2 release

I don’t think they do keep separate commits for features anymore but instead, do that bulk commit in every two weeks.

just look at the link, every commit since v15 bump has been separate commit/PR. Doesn’t mean they will do it in the future too, just saying that atm you can see the changes easily since the version bump if you look at the history right now.

I’m interested what new realtime GI solution will be.

Doesn’t look like it’s a priority for them right now if you take a look at the roadmap:

Maybe it still isn’t updated for 2023 release.

Burst occlusion culling is really needed on this list.

The culling has to be finished in Entities and DOTS first (it’s not done yet)… before it will get ported for gameobject scenarios. You will wait a while, and definitely not in 2022 even with an alpha if you’re looking at gameobject support.

I am locking this thread, sorry guys. Wait for this alpha to be beta first, at least (it is the rules for this part of the site, to give feedback on the specific alpha / beta Unity releases).

As soon as alpha 2023 drops (on forum), please re-post!
