The ActiveDen highest score is 153 - beat that, if you can!
To celebrate Envato’s birthday (ActiveDen.net’s parent company), they’ve scoured the Envato group sites for some of the most amazing items they could find, bundled them all up and thrown in a few other goodies as well.
One of which is the first Unity3d content to hit ActiveDen.net, a game starter pack called ‘ActiveJump!’ by PsychicParrot.
The birthday bundle pack is only available for 5 days, then everything in it goes back to its regular pricing.
In the pack, you’ll find (amongst other things) full source to ActiveJump (no assets, but ‘ready-to-go’ code nicely commented with instructions), a game-ready sniper rifle 3d model, Photoshop templates, backgrounds, ambient music tracks, a WordPress theme … the list goes on and on!
Enjoy!
See if you can my personal score of 115, then go for the ActiveDen record of 153! If you beat it, I’d love to hear about it - feel free to post up your scores here!
People have definitely paid it. Envato is a multi-million dollar company, that has community driven marketplaces for many different areas, like wordpress themes, flash files, code snippets, photoshop files, and more.
If you click on the birthday bundle link you can see the amount of purchases for each item in the bundle, and all are at least in the double digits.
This particular item was never $400! The birthday bundle is 50-some items from all of their marketplaces, whose prices previous to the sale add up to $400.
Anyone remember the game ZUB on the Amstrad CPC464? It was quite similar, except zub was some kind of weird jumping alien thing, but the aim of jumping higher and higher was quite fun, given the risk of falling.
To clarify on the pricing: The bundle pack is made up of a lot of separate items that would cost more than $400 to buy them all separately. To celebrate the company’s birthday, the pack is $20 for 5 days. Once the time is up, the items go back on sale as separate items at their regular individual prices.
If anyone has any more questions, feel free to ask… but more importantly, in my mind, has anyone beaten 153 yet?!
Oh … and ZUB was great fun - I had it for my ZX Spectrum way back when!
Tomme … good question! I would totally recommend reading the licence agreement first. As with everything that has a licence agreement attached to it (the legal team insist on it), there may be some clause that either doesn’t agree with your project or doesn’t suit it. You should always read the t’s and c’s when you buy stock or royalty-free stuff.
If you go to the bundle page ( here ), look over on the upper right by the price. Next to the price, there is a drop down box with the licence type inside. Hover over and it will show more information, then click on the ‘MORE EXAMPLES’ link to check out a list of uses you are allowed under the licence to make sure it suits what you are looking for.
OK the licenses seem quite fair for the price things at being sold at, just to make one thing clear in the Birthday Bundle, I would need to get extended licenses for separate items i plan to use in it, correct?
I’m also curious about that. Does it come with any license that allows for use in commercial game development? That would be my only reason for purchase.
As a developer (not a lawyer) I don’t want to get into licensing or give out advice etc. on it - If you have any questions on the licensing, please submit a support ticket through the ActiveDen website so that they can get the right person to answer your question
Again, to find the licence go to the bundle page ( http://themeforest.net/item/envato-birthday-bundle-2010/119266/ ), look over on the upper right by the price. Next to the price, there is a drop down box with the licence type inside. Hover over and it will show more information, then click on the ‘MORE EXAMPLES’ link to check out a list of uses you are allowed under the licence to make sure it suits what you are looking for.
It should tell you everything you need to know, but again if there’s anything specific that you’re not clear on or that you feel isn’t made clear on that page, submitting a support ticket will hopefully get that cleared up for you. The support guys are awesome and will respond quickly, too!
Ohhh right. Sorry about that - my system automatically logs me in, so I’m just used to seeing those options and I didn’t realize you needed to be logged in for that! I was a Unity guy before an ActiveDen guy, so I’m still getting used to it all!
