Actual -IN- game ads

I tried to google this, but I guess I may not be wording it correctly.

What I was wondering, is it possible to play a video ad on a plane? I’m thinking that the ad could play on a TV in the room or maybe like on a wall like a poster.

Is this possible? If so, then it opens up lots of possibilities for first person shooters in a city level. You can have ads playing on all the billboards in the city and have them be -real- ads.

Thanks in advance for any replies to this topic.

Hi, thanks for writing.

Yes, we have looked at possibilities for in-game billboard ads, and even made internal hack week projects, using Unity - Manual: Video Player component to show the videos. However the challenge is how to know if the player actually watched the ad, and to what extend. On digital advertising platforms, the “ad viewability” is an important metric for advertisers, e.g. to avoid fraud, and we would need to come up with a solution for this, before we would even be able to offer a product. And we have a lot of other higher priority ideas before in-game billboard ads

But if you have a 3D game which you think would be interesting for e.g. a specific type of advertisers, you can always try to reach out to potential advertisers directly. As such a in-game billboard is similar to you having a billboard in physical world; if the location combined with people passing by, is attractive for advertisers, they are willing to pay for the “inventory” (as it’s called in advertiser terms)

Mine would be a stationary position in the room. I kind of assumed the issues that you suggested, just wondering if anyone had found a solution. Thanks for the input, it confirmed what I was thinking on the topic.
