Actually start using prefixes in each forums.

Hi all,

Have you seen the Shader Graph forum, with its colorful thread prefixes?

I think it’s good time to start making them available to other package-oriented sub-forums.

Even the Editor & General Support could use something like these, so people can give/receive help as easily as possible.

A single Feedback tag is too broad and we can all use some help scanning forums threads.

(Think about them like issue labels on GitHub; or in term of “index selectivity” where you allow readers to pick out relevant topics faster.)

Thx, have a nice day.

Hey @bitinn !

Thanks for the feedback, and I’m glad you’re enjoying the way we’ve structured the Shader Graph forum. We’re testing the waters as to where this does and doesn’t make sense and when we have a solution we want to roll out across the forums we’ll be doing so!

Keeping it as a single “Feedback” prefix, helps us easily sort by all content that is a piece of feedback in a given forum. As an example, in the Meta-Forum, you can click “Feedback” and see all threads within this specific forum that have been flagged like that.

That said, we’re open to ideas and we’re working with teams such as our Shader Graph and Testing & Automation teams to refine what is working.

Thx, I think having these prefixes/filters is a very good step. Obviously you could overdo it, but I think SG forum finds a good balance.

And I am happy to see pinned thread like this: https://discussions.unity.com/t/739937

I think the best part of the prefixes, as far as the Shader Graph forum goes, is the very obvious indicator of which threads are still awaiting a resolution by the poster. One of the challenges of using the forums is knowing who needs help. I especially like that the prefixes allow threads to be flagged as Help Wanted vs Resolved. It would be nice if at least those prefixes existed in other forums, to make it easier to know where help is needed. I don’t really want to read through a long thread only to find that someone already answered the question.

Along with that feature, that probably also means there would need to be some system where others, not just the original poster, can flag the topic as Resolved. I don’t know if that would be a moderator task, or whether it could be introduced as a forum feature, where a thread could be voted into a Resolved state if enough people say it’s resolved, with the option for the original poster to reset it to Help Wanted if they feel it was Resolved without truly being so.
