Did I read that correctly?!?? I was a windows user and I am now proud to be a MAC / OS X User, and I am never looking back, nor will I go back to a windows based machine just because of Unity entering the Windows universe. To develop for the iPhone, iPod Touch you need to be on a Mac based machine anyway, and this is one of the platforms we develop for.
I think it is awesome that UT is opening up their market to Windows users, but IMO OS X is where it is at in terms of productivity and intuitive design. This is why I switched to a Mac, Unity was just a bonus A very BIG bonus hahahaha
Now with that said, having Unity on Windows allows you to reach out and hire people that do not have a Mac or do not wish to switch. Either way it is good news all around.
I’m glad with that Windows version too, believe me. But in that topic announcing the Unity Win, lot of folks here said that they intend to switch back to Win… So I thought… this might be an opportunity to buy a MacBook for a good price! hahaha
I saw one or two…plus I think they’d be likely to keep the Mac. Unless they were desperate for cash, it would make sense to keep it for compatibility testing, plus it’s necessary for iPhone development.
Plus, there’s people (like me) that just have Windows installed on their Mac… and since you can’t install Mac OS X to run natively on a PC, for a good number of people it would be kind of a waste of money to switch back… just my 2c
But, if someone wants to switch back to a PC box that’s their prerogative

[/quote]looks at this triple boot OS-X/Vista/Ubuntu PC…
What do you mean with “can’t run natively”?
You have to “coerce” it into installing but after install it runs just fine
Mac Pro
8 core Xeon @ 2.8Ghz
4 GB Memory
Nvidia GeForce 8800GT
500 GB HDD
30’’ Apple Cinema HD Display
Mac OSX 10.5.6
Windows Vista 32-bit (Bootcamp)
The Mac Pro is very well priced considering the power of it and the other workstation computers. It’s $4800 for the computer and only 2 gigs of ram (I upgraded my memory from crucial for an extra 100 bucks), but the display was $2000 which to me may be a bit much…but it has the most amazing display system I’ve ever seen. The colors are unbelievable, and the screen is huuuuge.
All together, it came to around $6000. Best part is that it was a birthday present from my mom. So I didn’t pay a dime.
I’m going to do some professional work soon on it (and hopefully make a video game!) and make the Mac pay for itself.
