While wearing the Vive, an additional billboard-like rendering of the scene is placed in the middle of the virtual world. It’s position stays completely stationary as I teleport around the scene (although it does rotate slightly and scale a bit as I move around it). Any ideas on what this could be? I can’t for the life of me figure out what could cause this.

Does this happen in an empty scene?
No, it only happens in scenes with a large amount of assets. Empty and smaller scenes don’t seem to have this issue.
