additional software

So I know I’m going to need a 3D modeling software but is there any other software I’ll need to use Unity? Also I would like to know what specific software you suggest. -Thanks

For 3D modelling we recommend:
Maya, Cinema 4D and Cheetah 3D

A copy of Photoshop comes handy for creating textures and gui.

You’ll also want a good text editor such as SubEthaEdit or TextWrangler (both free), and a good 2D graphics package such as Photoshop, or one of the many free alternatives. Personally, I like Photoshop, but this is an okay Mac port of the infamous GIMP.

what do you recommend most? Maya, Cheetah 3d or cinema 4d.

If budget isn’t a problem go with Maya or C4D, take a look at demos and stuff to see which one you like the feel of better. They support all the features you need for unity where as C3D doesn’t support bones and such yet. jeff

I recommend Maya, is very powerfull, extecible, stable and has many extra feauters.
To start, use Meya Complete, it has all what you need to push your creativity on the top.
I’m making my first approach to unity using maya and is very smooth, since you save in the native maya file format, you get what you see.
Is a personal opinion and I am a Maya fan (As you already see)

Best of regards
