Is there a way to adjust the interpolation time for exporting looping wind? Currently, I have very minimal wind, no gusting, but exporting 4 seconds of wind anim will result in a fairly noticeable shift to get the tree position back to where it is on frame 1 by the end of the anim when looping is enabled.
Could I dictate when SpeedTree starts to interpolate where the tree is and where it needs to be by the end of the animation? We’d be able to smooth out the transition that way.
Hello,
Wind loop interpolates through the last 20% of the export time. Currently there is no setting for this, though we have considered it. I can log your interest.
Even if it was configurable, if your wind effect is very different at the start and end of the animation, the small shift as it starts to interpolate can be visible. It’s better to ensure that the wind near the wrap-around point is already somewhat similar.
If you’re using the timeline, you can do this by adjusting the wind curve. Make sure the left and right hand sides of the curve are similar, even if the center of the curve does something else.
You’ll also want to look at your response times in the wind settings, whether you’re using timeline wind or not ( Fan - VFX ). If you have very large response times, then the wind might not have had time to ramp up enough during the preroll of the animation. This can cause the start and end of the animation to be different.
Hope this helps
