So last September i wanted to make a video game, i had no idea how, but after a highly successful movie series i figured i thought it would be the next logical step. I finally found Unity through searching the web and endless forums trying to hire programmers. After a few days I found the average price for a full game would cost around 50k. Ill be damned if I am going to pay someone anywhere close to that amount of money for a 99 cent game for iPhone/Andriod.
So I asked questions on here, I downloaded Unity and I explored this great program. I bought graphics from www.3drt.com (GREAT site for objects/people/machines/houses) I even got bought plugin’s like Rapid Utility, Easy Roads and Prime 31 social networking. I never ended up using the Easy Roads or Rapid, but they were fun to work with and helped me learn Unity.
I then got some animators, riggers what ever hell other titles these people had to make animations for me, i got a good price at 50 an animation (i think that’s good?) and had another guy BlackAnt Master design some altered bikes. Kiran and Galent have helped me with a few questions and scripts and aside from the few blockhead haters, have had great fun on here.
After using Unity Forums I was able to grab a few allies who have helped me, non more then a programmer named Eugene who shares the same passion about motorcycles. Eugene has created scripts and helped me tweek them out to get the feel and look we are hoping will help sell the game and make it fun for everyone.
So here we are, only about 5k later as opposed to the 50k, i have 9 levels in the finishing stage, its hard to perfectly optimize the game since Unity Answers has so many back and forth solutions. I wish Unity would just make 1 answer solid and post it on a part of their site. Its hard to figure out things with iPhone, like is it wiser to use 300 small planes with OCC or 30 big ones.
Anyways, here is a small clip i recently leaked to our fans, you will notice its similar to Road Rash, however we REALLY do these same stunts on motorcycles, so you can’t really say we are “stealing” their idea… for more info on us be sure to check out www.adrenalinecrew.com
Ok, back to Occlusion Culling and figuring out how to bake these stupid directional lights!
Please let me know what you think… We have added more sound effects, the enemies come closer and we have changed the buttons, other then that any feedback on this short clip would be killer.
