Advice and suggestions.

Looking for some fun tutorials to get better at unity.

How hard would it be to create something like quake?
with basic AI that attacks by moving towards the player and touching them and of course some fun diverse weapons.

Oh and first post hopefully i will stick around

It depends.

Regardless, if you’re a beginner it’s best to start out with something smaller. You should start here:

any game is hard work, a smaller version of quake is do-able though, if you are prepared to put the time and effort in.

I have made a basic fps platformer and that sphere roll a ball game
and some other rather weird things

i looked up a unity tut but it was for version 4.0 so none of what they were saying made sense

Oh and as you would imagine not great at scripting starting to get a hang of js though

Block the levels out with something like pro-builder or Blender (some good tutorials out there for it), look at the FPS tutorials out there. Look at some of the Unity controller scripts, shouldn’t be that hard to scratch up a prototype…

Then start experimenting with characters, navmesh etc.

It’s certainly do-able and a great learning process, don’t expect it to be this year before you get the hang of it though ;).

Thanks!!!

This should keep you busy for a while:
