Advice needed for physics for rope/rock climbing props

Apologies if this is the wrong forum, please move  Double apologies I’m not even sure what the correct terminology would be for what I’m trying to achieve

I have a rock climbing character with rock climbing gear. The climbing and the rope I’ve got working, but I’d like to have the climbing harness gear have some sort of physics for realism sake.

At the moment I’m using the Magica Cloth 2 plugin on all of the climbing walnuts and essentially treating them like highly tweaked hair. It seems to be working fine, but I’m wondering if there is a better way to accomplish this.

I’m not even really sure what keywords to search for to look up something like this so any suggestions would be very appreciated!

If there’s not big impact on performance, probably it’s the right choice. As you stated it’s working fine. Only performance should make you go looking for other solution.
