Advice on Advertising

So for our current mobile game, we’re trying to implement an ads, and Admob is really becoming this rabbit hole of more and more and more and more google accounts.

I’ve heard there are other ad services, do they all suck this much? I heard Unity’s is terrible.

What is the best course of action? We want to run video reward ads a la Crossy Road, is there a better, less annoying to work with system out there? Does anyone have good advice for dealing with these situations?

Unity Ads are by far easiest to integrate and you should have them in use no matter if you are using other solutions too. Crossy road also used Unity ads as one network and IIRC they earned few millions with it.

You could try Heyzap with meditation.

One thing to remember is that Unity is picking up steam. In the beginning there were not many advertisers so bids were pretty low. But now that a ton more people are using Unity to advertise, their cost is going up. Also it is much easier to implement and fudge with.

I’ve just seen some very negative reviews of Unity Ads online. Honestly, I don’t totally understand all of this stuff, but it seems to me pretty much every person who talks about it mentions these fill rate things, which I don’t really get, but it sounds like a bad thing

From what I’ve read, it sounds kinda bad.

We might try it though, we’ll let you know how it goes

try something with ad mediation

You realise Crossy Roads uses the Unity Ads system.

I know I know, I’ve just heard lots of negative things about it in reviews. Maybe it’s human error on those people’s part, I don’t know

I decided to use Unity Ads anyway, because it wasn’t a pain in the ass to install, quite the opposite really, we couldn’t believe it was so easy

If we find it gives us trouble or doesn’t work, we’ll just try one of the others, but so far it’s looking good.

Google Play Game services on the other hand have been nothing but trouble.

Why is Google so rich? Every product they touch becomes heinously complicated after they are done with it, which is ironic given what their primary product is…

I don’t think any part of this project has frustrated me more than all the stuff Google has put their hands on.

Google built a search engine that worked in a time wen the internet was just becoming a thing. Their engine was so good it quickly built a monopoly over all the competitors. If you want to be found on the internet you need to pay the owner of the search engine. Everything else they do is built on that foundation.
