Aesthetic Melody : A Vaporwave Gravity Platformer

Now on Steam Greenlight : Steam Community :: Error

If you could toss me a yes vote I’d be very appreciative!

Hello everyone! This is a small game I’ve been working on to take a break from my longer project. It’s a simple gravity platformer with a vaporwave aesthetic and a 30 minute soundtrack. Let me know what you think.

I’m probably going to add a second playable character that has a jetpack instead to mix things up for the players after they’ve already beaten the game.

The year is 1999.
It is the future

There’s always music in the air. Inhale the vaporwave. Exhale the vaporwave. Don’t be afraid. Hold my hand. This is good. Isn’t it. Sit back friend. Take a load off. Relax. Inhale the vaporwave. You feel it too? In your chest… don’t you? That proverbial force that binds us. I like to think you do.

Aesthetic Melody

Invert gravity to avoid traps and dangers. Collect all the keys to advance to the next level. Enjoy 30+ minutes of original electronic and vaporwave music in this custom soundtrack. Hear some inspirational words and conquer the challenges laid before you.

  • New Game + and New Game + + for extra challenges.
  • Full Original 30+ Minute Soundtrack Featuring Vaporwave and Electronic music.
  • I heard theres a second playable character who uses a jetpack and completely changes how the game is played? But that might just be a rumor.
  • Someone crashed their delorean on level 7 but the cleanup crew has taken care of it so that’s good.
  • Do you guys remember the 80’s and 90’s? I don’t. But I like to pretend I do.
  • Inhale the vaporwave.
  • Exhale the vaporwave.

First glance got my attention and had about a 6/10 chance of voting yes.

Read the bit about pretending to understand retro games to make games for money (that’s how I interpreted it) and dropped to a 2/10 chance of yes.

Checked out Steam to read comments. Same 2/10. Clicked on your dev name and found two other games that I need to check out. “Hmmm… looks like this person is actually completing original games and releasing them instead of just talking about it like so many on the forums do!” back up to a 6/10.

Basically I am not sure this particular game is my thing. And I really dislike people making retro style games trying to cash in on nostalgia without even understanding the other important parts of classic games that have nothing to do with nostalgia.

But I think what will come out of this is I might buy one of your other 2 games. So it still worked out good.

hmmm not really trying to cash in on anything. I just wanted to take a break and make a small game and I like Vaporwave so I used that for the look of the game, I also wanted to try my hand at having original music made so it seemed like a good fit.

P.S. ) Don’t buy my 1st game.
