After Unity splash screen there is only a grey screen and game wont start on UWP

After Unity splash screen there is only a grey screen and nothing else happens on UWP. This only happens on UWP, no other platform. I am using Unity 2017.3 and I am debugging from Visual Studio 15.5.2

Any ideas?

What’s the CPU usage like at this time? Is it likely that you’re stuck on a busy loop?

Turned out that this was due to some dll stripping magic performed on a 3rd party tool (Behavior Designer) Strange thing was, it gave no error or such. It just sate there doing nothing. I have a small repro project if this is of interest to you.

It’s likely the tool makes the code spin infinitely somewhere. I would report this issue to the third party tool vendor instead.

I have the same problem. When I try to debug an UWP app (using F5 in Visual Studio) the Unity engine hangs directly after the splash screen with a grey screen. When I start the app without debugging and then attach the debugger to the process it works.

I have the same issue except the unity splash screen isn’t loaded (displays a square with an x in it). Then I get a black screen and then the app crashes. Everything builds correctly though, without any errors.

Tried out different versions of Visual Studio (started showing after upgrading to 15.5.2, downgraded but still showed it), using unity 2017.3.0f3. Backend scripting is set to .NET (can’t use IL2CPP because of vuforia).

Maybe I forgot to install something during the Visual Studio version changes?

I’ve been playing around to study the issue more. When I built & ran in x86 I get:

The program ‘[15500] Game Name.exe’ has exited with code -1073741819 (0xc0000005) ‘Access violation’.

When I build & run in x64 It gets much further until vuforia runs, so I guess this is vuforia’s issue? This time it showed the unity’s splash screen logo correctly. Here’s the log up until the crash:
