《AirBoost》 - My in-development 2D side-scrolling action game.

Hello everyone, I’m kkll7952, a game developer from Taiwan.
I am currently developing games under the name of my one-person team, FilterGame.

The game I am developing is called ‘AirBoost’, a pixel-style 2D action game.

I’m thrilled to share the game I’m working on with everyone.
Currently, I’m single-handedly handling both the programming and the art assets of this game.
I’m working hard to advance the development progress on my own!

This is a story that depicts the sky and ancient ruins.
The game is influenced by ‘Mega Man Legends’, a game I adore, and I hope everyone will enjoy it too.

This is also my first time using Unity for game development.
I’ve created many game levels with Unity.

There are also many exciting BOSS battles in the game.

Besides these, there are also many carefully crafted game elements,
such as having companions to fight alongside!

The game is currently under continuous development.
I have also enlisted the help of an artist friend to create game CGs and character portraits.
I will strive to improve the game’s completion level.
If you have any interest, questions, or suggestions, feel free to share them.
You can also follow me on Twitter, where I frequently post development videos for sharing.
Thank you, everyone!

Happy New Year 2024, everyone! My game is still in development, and I’m working hard to release it within this year.

This year is the Year of the Dragon (Chinese Zodiac), and our game’s illustrator has created a New Year greeting image. I’m sharing it with everyone here.

Hello everyone!
January has passed so quickly.
Tomorrow marks the start of the Spring Festival holiday! Taking the opportunity today to share January’s progress with you all!

Last time, I mentioned wanting to start wrapping up the game. So, what exactly have I done?
Let’s take a look!"

After working for so long, now that I’m arranging the final tasks, I’ve encountered a problem! The earliest levels I created now seem very rudimentary! So, I had no choice but to revise them again. Visually, it looks like this!

The background looks very rudimentary! At the time, I really had no idea how to proceed with the drawing. After accumulating experience over this period, now looking back and adding details!

Besides the accumulation of art skills, the game system has also become much richer compared to the beginning. Therefore, I’ve revisited and revised the gameplay once more.

This requires a significant amount of time! So, I’m truly working with a final version mindset, striving to prepare everything thoroughly.

I’ve also included a screenshot of the actual game. You can notice that there are now small message prompts on the left side. Lately, I’ve been focusing on filling in these small details.

The previous UI was also in a very uncertain state. Although the functionality was integrated, it was not in its final form, and I couldn’t make a definitive decision on the design. Now, I also need to finalize a version!

Secondary weapons can also be considered special weapons. This feature was programmed quite early on, but initially, only one or two types of secondary weapons were implemented (essentially only half done).

Now, I’ve finalized a version for all secondary weapons in one go.

Secondary weapons are activated using crystals beside the player, consuming the crystal’s energy to produce the weapon.

Initially, only the energy bar in the top left corner UI displayed the energy, which was too unintuitive when playing. So, this time, I’ve also added an energy bar above the crystal, with a direct display when the energy is depleted.

The crystal has a bit of a sub-machine concept, so the protagonist and the crystal can attack simultaneously! The energy system has also been simplified; all weapons share a single energy bar. The energy will also recover over time.

Looks fantastic! Good luck with the release!
