Airport Scene - Work In Progress

I still have more to do, but wanted to share a WIP 3D model / architectural component of a project that will eventually be populated with programmed elements, bots, etc.

Any advice on how to improve the scene, or reports of excessive lag, or other oddities would be greatly appreciated!

Where is this airport? I was able to just breeze through check in and security! Almost like flying in the “old days”.

Seriously though, it looks nicely done. Ran surprisingly fast on my older core duo 2, probably because it looks like all the textures were baked and you were careful not to use any performance eating shaders. At least that’s what I’m guessing. My only critique would be that the baked lightmaps looked too dirty / rough, I’m guessing you used Beast? Gave it a grungy look IMO, I’ve read that others have had this problem with it also. If you’re looking for realism, gaming, run on any machine, then it’s probably fine as-is. But if you’re trying to sell a client, then I think you’ll need to bite the bullet and add some glossy and reflective shaders and go with a higher res light map.

Good call bigkahuna, thanks for the input! I agree that the maps are pretty muddy/dirty… I think one thing that might help is reducing the ambient occlusion and its contrast - so the edges and corners aren’t so dark and muddy.

You’re also right that some reflective shaders would really add some realism and depth. I’ll add that into another test build, and see how it turns out.

Nice wip… a bery good starting point!

Cars don’t have any collider, maybe it is not so much important but I noticed it. Anyway airport looks pretty good for me, reminds me an FPS game.
