All Attempts to Activate Unity 3D Fail Because of broken HTTPS

Greetings,

I just installed Unity 3D 3.x and ran into a HTTPS security problem while attempting to activate it but first I should mention I am using Chrome and Firefox on Windows Vista 64.

Attempt to Activate via Internet Activation Method
Ok so when I choose to activate Unity 3D via the Internet Activation method, Chrome opens up to the activation page on the Unity 3D website. The problem is that, in the URL bar, the HTTPS part of the URL is crossed out, in red text, with a red stroke and the lock icon next to it has a red X on it. Not good. Please take a look at the screen shot I made:

Attempt to Activate via Manual Activation Method
And when I try to activate Unity via the Manual Activation method by manually entering in the URL

https://store.unity3d.com/manual/

into the URL bar of Chrome, I get to the manual activation page but this time the HTTPS part of the URL is in gray text and the lock icon next to it has a yellow triangle icon on it. Here is my screen shot:

I do not understand why I am getting these security errors. I would rather not risk entering my email address or the Serial number and License request file over an unsecured connection. I also get the same results with Firefox. Gmail, Twitter and my bank site all show HTTPS in green with a green lock icon so I assume this is a problem on your end.

Can you check to see if things ok on your end?
If they are ok, then what is wrong?
And what are your suggestions for me to activate Unity while remaining safe?

Thanks and regards,

Perhaps you can email Unity and have them activate for you i guess.

Even though the red/yellow errors are daunting, you’ll notice that the SSL certificates are still valid. The problem is that there are “insecure” elements in the pages. Specifically for these pages the images are the “insecure” elements. Since these images are definitely from our webserver there’s nothing insecure about these pages. Chrome just doesn’t know any better. So you can submit your serial/email/whatever and it’ll be secure. We’ll still fix those image links to make sure those errors stop occurring.

Thanks for the heads up. Yes, fixing those images to stop those warnings will be better for the more cautious types like myself. Take care : )
