Alphaville -- Alpha Channel Utility

Photoshop and GraphicConverter are both a PITA for creating an image from an arbitrary image and alpha (which you kind of need a lot for Unity) so here’s a simple utility which does it.

It supports drag and drop (files) as well as via the regular dialog.

It saves PNGs.

Update

[New] Forces alpha to monochrome on import
[New] Allows you to invert alpha
[Fix] Clicking alpha image now works properly

These apps now have a home page:

Perfect timing. Working on the alpha channel in GIMP is such a PITA that I bounce between it and PS. This will save me some time. Thanks!

Thank you sir!

I just gave it a try, but unfortunately the background of my alpha isn’t coming out right. Here’s what it looks like in your app and the result in Unity:

How programs interpret alphas varies. Obviously my program and Unity are upside down relative to each other. (The map you’re getting is simply inverted.)

I’ll fix this in the next version (I’ll just allow you to invert the channel).

Yup, simple enought to just invert the texture before saving it. Very useful tool, thanks!

I love the icon. Lemmie Caution, private eye!
