This is just an idea please don’t attack on me after reading and if you disagree with that. ![]()
what is your idea about adding a thank button to forum and when a person problem get solved press thank button and encourage the helper or some times the users get in challenge to who have maximum thank number and who is better help to others and … !!
This challenge will increase the speed of answering and helping to other people ( i think )!!
now you say your idea about that. ![]()
thanks
That’s what Unity Answers is for.
And a “reputation” system has already been discussed multiple times on the forums.
This
+1 rep for khanstruct
That is the purpose of Unity Answers:
I would suggest using a handy feature we have on these forums called “search.” This has been discussed multiple times erstwhile.
Or if you don’t feel like using the search bar, there is always Google.
To be honest, I don’t think it’s a bad idea. There’s a mixed bag of advice around here, with some people being great at one end of the spectrum and others not really having the experience to offer solid advice at the other, but going ahead and trying anyway. I usually have little time for any kind of reputation system, but in cases like this I think it might be a good idea to give new users some kind of at-a-glance, simple yardstick for who’s advice to give more credence. I know it’s still a very flawed system, but it might be better than nothing, and it’s certainly better than post count or join date.
I know that this is what Unity Answers is really for but, as someone who works with Unity professionally, I don’t hang around with a Unity Answers tab open in my browser and I don’t casually browse it at lunch.
Thanks for your comments.
But I think when I come here and say my comment you can’t know how much is my knowledge and how much of my answers is true and the number of posts can’t say you I’m a pro or beginner in unity3d because I can go to other forums and post useless subjects and increase number of my posts.
I know that is exist in unity answer but are you know how much is my experience about unity3d or can you say how many times I help people.
When you don’t know my thanks number you can’t trust my idea and you can’t trust my answer.
Can I ask why the reputation system that is discussed many times doesn’t added? ![]()
I think UnityAnswers should be combined with these forums somehow. There are a lot of questions that are asked here that could be asked at UnityAnswers but I don’t think some people even know it’s there.
The last reputation system thread changed my mind to not having one being a good thing.
Can i ask from disagree friends why it isn’t a good thing?
The creation of a rep system is likely to do what I have seen it do elsewhere, and that’s create an influx of rep farming threads. Also, people may thank or give rep if they agree with a view, even if the person isn’t helpful at all. Like many have said, Unity Answers has the answer rating system. There are a lot of open ended questions on the forums where there is no one right answer, so the thank you system wouldn’t work as well as the rating system on Answers, where every question has an explicit answer.
Yea !!
after some years unity3d add this idea as like button
Thanks unity for everything.![]()
We talk often about how we can make the forums better. The addition of the “Like” option was our first stab at letting users thank each other, or show support, and that seems to have worked out well. @ will keep wanting to make changes.
Like is enough imo.
Don’t be silly, that’s not enough by a long shot…there clearly needs to be a “donate $$ to Eric5h5” button (on every post, not just mine).

The Eric Development forums.
We’ve thrown around the idea of having a Karma system here too and it all gets added in with Answers Karma into a global system. But for this we would also need one profile system…and down the rabbit hole we go.
This isn’t in development right now but at some point they will be. We know there are obviously issues of people Karma farming and whatnot but there are ways to combat this, e.g costing points etc. (Doesn’t mean we will do that, it’s just a example)
There is this, if you care to watch us talk for an hour, disclaimer, I don’t cover everything and this isn’t currently under development but should be next year (fingers crossed), also it’s not final;
