I’m small indie developer who can’t afford Unity Pro + Unity Android Pro.
I’m making this thread to know how many developers are on a similar situation and wants Unity Android Basic (Non-pro) for a similar cost to Unity iPhone (Basic) $400.
Indeed, no Android Basic license or trial license available just yet. However Android beta is still running, and we’re still accepting Unity Android license owners to join.
As a workaround for our s bit conservative policy, if you have a solid list of Unity iPhone games released and would like to get a free Android trial - I am here to help you. Just email at oleg@unity3d.com and explain the situation. I’ll be happy to share a trial key for you to try to port your iPhone games to Android.
Is there an ETA on the release date of Unity Android Basic? Would it be possible to pre-order the license in exchange for access to the beta’s as was done for the 3.0 release - that was a pretty smooth transition
Timviana I think i see like 3 android users to 1 iphone user on a day to day basis out on the street. while this is true that android user base is getting bigger.
I too am using unity3 basic but i am working on a project exclusively for android. many unity3 engine games have been released on android so of course basic can be ported to android right?
