Android build shows "Made in Unity" splash screen, ignoring my custom spalsh screen logo and setting

I have Unity Pro license, and I’m building an Android Cardboard app with Unity 5.6.0

I have turned off the “Show unity logo” checkbox, I added my own logo and changed splash screen color and duration. All those settings are ignored, and the android app still shows the default gray “Made in Unity” splash.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hey Vice,

Could you do these things for me and report back?

  1. Try reproducing the issue on a new empty project. (If it reproduces, that means the issue is not your project specific)
  2. Try reproducing on the newest version. In your case please try 5.6.2f1.

If you are able to reproduce the issue on both of these steps, please submit a bug (preferably with the smallest possible repro project) and post the Case # here so we could take a look : )

I have tried 5.6.2p1 - same results
Tried to delete and rebuild the Library folder - same results
Tried to make a new Android project - Custom splash screen works correctly.

There is something about my project that breaks the splash screen, but I have no idea what, or how to find it.

Any advice?

The culprit seems to be Google Cardboard. If I remove cardboard from the “VR SDK’s” list the splash screen works.

This is a huge problem for me right now, as my client specifically wanted their own logo and this is this is literally the only reason I bought a license.

Hey Vice,
Thanks for checking these.
Definitely seems like a bug.
I will try to reproduce the issue using the information you provided here, but it would be helpful if you submitted a bug report with the project that reproduces the issue and posted the case # here : )

Just to confirm that i have the same thing happening when building for GearVR ( Oculus VR ) on Unity 5.6.2p4
For the time being i simply dropped a small black texture into the VR splash screen slot and the unity splash disappears. This adds some more launch delay though ( showing the black texture ) but at least its a workarround

@spacefrog @vice39 Could you submit a bug report with repro project?
I’ve tried numerous ways and can’t seem to reproduce the issue.
Both using Cardboard and Oculus on 5.6.2p1 deployed on SM-G925F (S6 Edge with Android 7) shows no Unity splash when it is unchecked.
Leave the case number here when you submit a report please : )

Also, huge sorry for such delay, I was on a 3 week vacation
