Android ERROR: Invalid password for key

I’m trying to make a build for the Google Play Store and I’m getting this error:

Error building Player: Exception: apk (invokation failed)
ERROR: Invalid password for key ‘xxxxxxxx’

My question is does this mean the password I’ve copied in from the Google Developer page is wrong (it’s copied directly from the page) or one of the passwords I created when making the keystore?

You are trying to sell you game or free
if free you need to create new key store edit it add all attributes and if paid app you will need a licensing key from google and google licensing plugin from asset store for free please let me know if i got it wrong

My app is free but it won't upload to the Play store without a key. Also is that plugin absolutely necessary for paid apps? I thought it was only necessary if you wanted to do verification.

It seems the keystore password needs to be the same as the Google Play password when creating a keystore.
