I’ve created a cylinder which is fired directly forward, and hits a bouncy platform at a 45 degree angle. The cylinder should (according to physics) change direction by 90 degrees, but in Unity it only does somewhere around 70. Can the physics engine be used reliably? How else can I achieve bouncing physics?

1Does both the cylinder AND the ground have the bouncy material ? The default setting being average bounciness, if my last statement was false, the bounciness would be of 0.5.
It was, and thanks!
– ataxkI've noticed that a bounciness of 1 gave more energy than you'd thought. For instance, drop a ball on a plane, both the same material with bounciness 1, the ball will bounce higher and higher. It's not a big difference each time, but it's there.
