Hey guys, lately i have decided to sell some older and newer animal assets that i had done for previous personal projects. Since projects have stalled i have decided to get animals at least to some use for Asset store. I do not have proper price in mind yet for pack, perhaps if you are interested please post a vote.
Animals are animated with on avarage 5 animations, and some portion of them are not yet (posted on the end of thread). All animals are using PBR material setup.
This is still at least two weeks away from release still some work to be done.
Few of those animals are not yet animated and might come within later updates (Rhino, Pug, Cane corso, Hellenic hund, Sheep, Snapping turtle)
Additional to that i have more animals that are also not animated but i might add them later if there is some interest for them (if so please let me know):
-Leopard
-African/indian elephant
-Beagle dog
-Tiger
-Horse
-2 prehistoric mammals (probably not in much of use)
-bug
These are very nice but I would have to see the animation quality and know what animations are offered before I could decide. Compared to some on the asset store, 5 animations are not many, especially for the more complex animals. I would want walk, run, attack, death, lie/sleeping, eating, more than one idle, etc. We use ICE and would need at least those animations to make it work, along with sitting/nesting and swimming and hopefully flying animations for geese and ducks.
If these are good, I would be willing to pay a fair price for them, but hard to say without seeing what is exactly in the package. So I didn’t vote, but your prices above all seem reasonable to me, even the top price if the necessary animations are included. Maybe more!
Consider also selling them separately or as packs of water-based animals, farm animals, etc. Again though, animations are really important. Even beautiful models fail if the animations are bad or the necessary ones are missing.
I would suggest polishing a couple of animals and selling them separately or in smaller packs. Not many people are willing to shell out 100 $ for a pack that only contains one model that they’re interested in, especially considering the range goes from “great white shark” over “iron age pig” to “rhinoceros”.
Do you have any plans on selling some of your historical assets?
Wow, missed those! Love the shields and weapons. All of your models, animals and historical are amazing. They beat a lot of what is already on the store.
I 100% agree with Christoph here. If you look at the most successful and marketable packs, they are the ones that have a consistent theme or fill a particular niche. Considering the breadth of your pack, I think you would be best served to break it up into parts and sell each of those parts for a more digestible price.
I think a dog pack could be quite strong, as would a sea creature pack. Looking at the creatures you have, some suggestions would be: ‘Amphibian Pack’, ‘Farmyard Animal Pack’, ‘European Wild Animal Pack’, ‘Scorpion Pack’.
You could even sell each animal individually with various textures provided for customisation. That way you can find out which animals are most popular and perhaps support those more than the animals that do not sell as well. By the way your assets look pretty good! Very marketable from a visual integrity standpoint.
Thanks guys for very constructive conversation. Looks like its a no brainer that many people would preffer smaller packs of animals that are in similar class area, so i will make sure to note that.
Teila i will be providing videos of some sample animations for sure. As for animations count i think that is the only thing i cannot do is to create more animations, i am not well wielded on animations nor particularly like to make them so it will most likely stay in 5 animation range per asset.
As for historical assets cant say anything yet, but i am considering it.
EDIT: Looking back at the posts, it looks like i asked wrong question in poll, i should have put the questions you guys put instead of what price should be heh, you live and you learn:smile:
This will definitely limit the customers who purchase, because quadruped animations aren’t easily re-purposed onto other models. The more animations you provide the more intriguing the packs will look to prospective customers.
I agree - separating into themed packs will be a better offering for developers.
2 little critiques - there is something off with the pugs eyeball. It is visibly noticeable in the render on your artstation page. The wolf looks slightly too shiny in the render on your artstation page.
Oh, too bad. I am afraid we can’t use them then. There are already packs of animals with more animations out there, none look as nice as yours, but they have more animations. With ICE, we would be limited without them.
