Animating In Blender

Hi, I’ve made myself a simple character in blender, with a simple rig. Here it is!

But I have a problem when posing it for animation: The part of the model the bone is linked too is stretching when it’s rotated, and it’s really not a desirable effect. Here’s what I mean.

As you can see, the foot is stretching massively with that rotation. Hmmmm. I don’t like that. No I don’t.
So, does anyone know how to fix this problem? Would it be worthwhile splitting the mesh into groups for each part? Or are there some settings I choose to stop it doing this?

Thanks in advance guys!

can you post the blend file? it looks like your bones are scaled/deformed…

Here, take a look.

Your armature is scaled in object mode. That usually makes problems. To quick fix it, select your whole armature in object mode and press Ctrl-A > Apply scale.

Thanks, that worked perfectly! Now to get on with animating  < and I don’t know why, but this made my day :).
