Should I learn animation and modeling to make games? Should I use blender or any other 3rd party programs or does unity have that? Well I am new so downloaded a low poly cowboy model and now I need to animate him. How to do that. Should I use blender or unity?
Yes - learn all you can.
Yes - use blender if you have to. Unity doesnt do mesh editing.
Im sure animating the cowboy is beyond your ability at this point - as is most everything else.
Start slow - probably not good to start with animations when you dont know what your doing. Check out blender learning content and Unity learning content.
