Hi guys, could you suggest the best/easiest way to Animate the following: A 3D character’s hands reloading and holding a weapon and similar behaviors.
As far as I know we have 3 options to animate(Correct me if I am wrong): Animation rigging package, Animation keyframes from unity and external software like Blender. I’ve tried all, but I am unsure which option would be good for this type of animation? Is this something the animation rigging package even is capable of doing? Thank you.
Animation Rigging is not intended to be used for all animation, it’s just for inverse kinematics. Here’s a video demonstrating this:
Animating inside of Unity is only possible with a package like UMotion Pro: UMotion Pro - Animation Editor | Animation Tools | Unity Asset Store
I really like UMotion Pro, it works well and you don’t have to worry animations getting messed up during the import process. The only downside is that it’s $70, but there’s a free version with less features: UMotion Pro - Animation Editor | Animation Tools | Unity Asset Store
Blender is made for things like animation, while Unity is not. I think most animators would rather deal with import issues with Blender than animate inside of Untiy, but it’s really up to you.
