hi, i created a model in 3ds max that has bones in it. i skinned the model and everything works great when i create it in 3ds, i put keyframes up to 450 and the whole thing plays
here is the video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvdzSjLMOJ4
i then exported it as a 3ds and converted it to an fbx file for unity.
i upload it into unity and the skeleton leaves the body of the character. The animation happens but without the mesh only the bones.
help =/
I use 3ds Max 2009, this is what I do. Open the max file with character animation. Export .fbx, check *bake animation *centemeters. Make SURE these are checked you should have no issues.
Make sure you have the fbx2009.3 Max plugin.
Well there’s your problem right there. The 3DS format doesn’t support bones at all, so there were no bones to convert to FBX.
Incidentally, what are you using to convert? I presume you’ve had problems with exporting FBX directly from 3dsMax? (I know I have!)
yeah idk how to export from max to fbx so i use a fbx converter program
thank you so much guys the 3ds was causing the problem it works now
