Animation not showing when close up

Animation not showing

Okay, so Im making a fps, and at the beginning, you fly in on a helicopter (from the bootcamp demo), and I am trying to add a pilot. I have in the right spot, and the right animation, but when you are too close, the animation wont display. When you get farther away, it does. All you can see is his gun moving, then when you get far enough, you will see the guy also.
