Animation On Prefabs

Hi all, I made a simple animation in the animation editor (a door swinging open) and then save this door with its anim to a prefab. Then when I duplicate the prefab and rotate the door to fit in different doorways the animation always plays from a fixed ‘global’ rotation ie the start and end positions of the original door…the prefab rottations arent taken into account.

How do I make the animation follow local rotations? If thats not possible it makes the animation system useless for prefabs right?

maybe your animation is rotating the root node of your object?

I suppose a quick fix would be to create an empty object and parent the door to this. I sorta have to do this to correct rotation issues when i export an object.

Then if you need to position or rotate the door, just adjust your empty object.

Alternatively, you could simple parent your door object in your 3d animation package to an empty/null object and don’t include any keyframes for it.
