Animation problem

I’ll try my best to describe the problem but if this doesn’t make sense I’ll try to re-word it.

I am importing an fbx file with 26 nulls arranged in a rubix cube pattern. I am moving, rotating and scaling cubes on each of these nulls in unity as they animate.

Up until now we have just used an idle animation so I didn’t need to split the animation into parts. Now we want the cubes to grow from a speck when the level first loads as an intro animation.

If I don’t check the “Split Animations” check box in the import settings the cubes will grow in a cascading pattern and then play the idle animation before stopping. If I check the “Split Animations” box and name the two animations so I can loop the idle, the cubes all grow in at once.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Anyone know of a workaround if nobody knows a fix for this?

Is your intention to have the objects animate in sequence “cascading” or do you wish to have them grow all at once?

might be worth checking what setting you have for the animation import, specifically “Store animation in root” etc

Thanks for the reply Joe Robins, I have sent you a personal message with a link to a build of the game that shows the problem so you can better understand what I mean.

Any thoughts on what would be causing the animation change Mr. Robins?

Elrick, is there any chance you could post the contents of the PM you sent to Joe here on the forum? If Joe isn’t available, you might be waiting a long time for an answer!

My project manager is uneasy about putting it out on the open forum for anyone to see. I was only allowed to send it to him because he was part of the support team. I’ll see if I can get permission to show something. Thanks.
