Animation Status Update (Q1 2025)

Last post
Thanks to everyone who took the time to give feedback on my previous update, regarding shipping the animation system as an experimental package, as well as your thoughts on AI in general.

The main reason I am posting so early in the quarter, is not that we have another big announcement but instead to let you all know that I am leaving Unity, so this will be my last post.

I want to make it very clear, that this has nothing to do with the state of the product or my role at Unity, or anything like that.

I just had an amazing opportunity elsewhere that I could not refuse. They were very persuasive, with a horse’s head in the bed and everything!

So what happens now?
Well, the team is in very good hands, with an existing Unity PM experienced in all things animation and production, so the ramp-up time will be minimal. It might mean these forum posts end up being a bit more periodical though.

The Animation team has not changed, in fact we had some new additions recently to help get it ready for you all to test, as it seems the majority of you want it ASAP, regardless of whether it is supported or not.

Thank you!
I would personally like to thank everyone here who has taken the time to engage with me and the rest of the animation community, it has been truly helpful.

I would also like to thank all those I engaged with at Unity, as they are an incredible team, stacked full of talent and passion, and like you all, have a massive desire to see the new system out in the wild ASAP.

I would have loved to have been there when it finally came out, but when it does I will be cheering from the sidelines for sure - as I still love the team and the product.

This is tough to hear. Your engagement with the community as a Product Manager for Unity was unmatched. You could really tell by what was shown at Unite that you took the feedback and was delivering something close to what game developers were asking for. We can only hope whoever takes over next can fill those big shoes.

Best of luck with your next opportunity!

Sad that one of the only people of the company keeping the communication fluid is leaving. Every single other team should learn from you. They probably won’t. Thanks for everything, you’ll be missed.

Good luck on your new endeavor, but honestly it’s bad news for us.
I hope that your replacement will continue updating the community the way you did.

OK, so, this is end of the month. Should we now know who is the new personnel that responsible for this area and what can we get for actual update about animation system in Q1 2025 ?

Hi @UnityChinny. Who will be responsible for the communication now?
