Animations from 3ds 2011 to Unity

Hey there everybody, i got a problem and i hope someone could help me to solve this issue. Heres my problem:

I have a model for 3ds max, in wich I placed bones and created a footstep animation. The problem is that I Dont know how to export the animation in order to later import it to unity and attach it to the model imported into unity. Importing only the model (animated) doesnt work, so I need to know how to export the animation of the model in a compatible format to use in unity. Exporting in .xaf or .bit neither do work.

I hope you can help me solve this, note that I am pretty new in the world of 3d modeling, animating and using game engines.

Thats all guys, thanks

FBX 2011 exporter is not compatible with unity 2.6, you have to use and make sure to select in the exporter settings FBX 2010. You can download it on the autodesk fbx website.

@SpookyCat: Thanks, That may work, but in the autodesk official website i can only find 2011 FBX plugins. Could someone show me any download link for 2010 FBX plugin? Thanks.

You may have it already installed, check the fbx export options rollup, ‘FBX File Format/Version’ should be a 2010 option in there.

Ok, now it works. Thank you very much, this helps me a lot.
