Having a tough time with Animator Rebind, where I replace a model that is part of an animation, in code. I call animator rebind, and then show the canvas by moving the anchor points to be the middle of the screen (it is a UI canvas with 3D Elements as child objects). I call an animator bool parameter to then move to a different animation from a blank initial state.

The oddest thing happens, it will work if the animators canvas is fully displayed in the editors Scene window. If it is not in the animators scene window fully, then the animation will not show but the canvas has been moved. The Game window does not show the animation being played. I can then trigger the animation simply by moving my view in the scene window. Of course, this is not possible when built for mobile devices so on those, the animation just doesn’t display.

I have tried waiting a frame / 1s before calling Rebind after I have moved the new model in. I have tried destroying the old model before and after Rebind. Do i need to do anything before i use the animator Rebind() function? It works in the way I have set it up so don’t think this is the issue, but just wont show on device. If i remove the rebind bit from code, it shows up as expected but of course the animation starts applying the various animations to seemingly randomly selected child objects so this bit is vital.

Is there some way of marking the system as dirty so that whatever is happening when the canvas gets into the scene window, can be done by code on a mobile device?

@Mecanim-Dev sorry for the ping but hoping it is something you have seen before?

I am on 2019.2.1f1 if this is a known issue.

If anyone sees this, fixed it by changing the Animator’s Culling Mode to “Always Animate”. It was probably as i was moving the canvas out and into the scene. Really did not know this was even an option…

That exactly what I would have proposed to you, I’m glad you did find it by yourself
