I am working on some game projects with some friends of mine. We are using the Basic Unity license. That is all we need and will work fine.

Now I have the great privilege of being able to start using Unity Pro at work.

The problem is that I have heard that once you open a project using the Pro version you can’t share it with someone who is using the basic license.

So how do I install and use the Pro version on the same computer that I am working on my Basic license projects with?

There is no actual Pro version…there is only one Unity app, so there’s nothing separate to install. Pro is a license. There are no technical issues opening a project made with Pro in Basic, since again there is not any such thing as a “Pro project”. Any Pro features used are simply not available if opened on a machine with a Basic license.

The issue is one of licensing, since it’s against the agreement to mix Pro and Basic licenses on the same team. I think it’s a bit of a grey area as to whether what you have is an actual “team” or not, but if you refrain from using any Pro features on the project that you’re sharing with your friends, I imagine that might satisfy the conditions of the license.
