Anti Aliasing in Unity

One thing I’ve only just noticed when switching back and forth between the photo’s below, even with 4X MSAA in Unity and another engine… There still a lot of jagged edges in Unity?

Anyone else experienced this and what are your thoughts on it? (Note: might not be able to tell unless downloaded)…

I have found that FXAA for unity is pretty good instead of going for MSAA. Just have to be in 1080 or it can get pretty blurry.

Those two images are so different that they’re not really comparable.

If you say so, I’m only looking for jagged lines…

I think the Unity one’s getting there…

Yeah having an issue with AA Post Processing, for the most part it’s fine though…

Sure, but the higher the contrast the more jaggy it’s going to look. That second image there has a soft palette, and then a lot of post processing that’s further softening it before even taking the AA into account. The top image has some of the same models and textures, but that’s where the similarity ends. The palette is very different and has much higher contrast, and the only softening is coming directly from the AA.

The AA may indeed be less effective, but from those images we’d never be able to tell.

I agree, I’m having too much fun in the morning with post processing effects. You know it’s easy to get carried away :)…

The tell tale sign though is the ropes, in the grand scheme of things it’s not something I’m particularly concerned with… But it’s nice to discuss and compare.

Where, once more, there’s a massive difference in contrast between the two images…
