So I don’t plan on getting PRO yet. I really like the Dynamic Shadow feature it has. But does the FREE version have some low end dynamic shadow feature(Performance is another issue). Like some sort of dynamic lighting… where when you enter the shadows, the object goes darker. Or when there is light from one side, the object looks lighter on that side(just the light no shadows…like that). Nothing really advanced. I’m talking how even old games like Half-life had some sort of dynamic lighting. As well as how your character gets darker as he enters the shadows though its not using dynamic shadows.
Yeah so low end dynamic lighting and shadows. Hope I made sense. Could someone help?
Yes, dynamic lights will cause objects to be lit in the way you described. However these lights are quite costly on the performance side so you don’t want to use too many of those onscreen.
Apart from that, the really cool features are Pro only, like dynamic shadows, light probes and alike.
This does not mean though that you cannot create and release games with the free version. Depending on what kind of game you want to create you still can achieve some nice effects, but you will definitely need to spend quite some time on that, make sure your lightmapping is good and so on. Pro will look better though, no question.
Could I like trim down the dynamic ligthing effects. Another reason why I don’t wanna use Dynamic Shadows is of course due to the performance. So Is this dynamic lighting that you mentioned the same… or can it be manipulated… and also how bad is the performance hit? My aim is to create a game for systems of all types. Not just the super fast ones. So that’s why I don’t want Dynamic shadows.
