Any details about the new Playstation partnership? And how much licenses will cost?

well if you havent heard yet, Unity is coming to Playstation systems and they haven’t said much about it. This is really exciting because now anyone can develop for consoles. I imagine this might really hurt the OUYA though, at least in terms of developer support.

Anyone know anything about the licenses? Around how much it will cost, if it works like iOS and Android where you have to buy the Unity license and their license separately? As far as I know it is really difficult to get a game on playstation network, so I imagine they are making it easier to do so now. And I know Unity has gotta make money, but how amazing would it be if it was free?

So your thoughts and if you know anything else about it, please share.

Besides, everyone knows playstation is better then xbox, and PC (only because of the amazing exclusives). Naughty Dog and Quantic Dream makes the system worth it just by themselves.
Argument on gaming platforms commence:

Heavy Rain was pretty bad to me, The story was the only thing that made it worthwhile not really worth a second play through due to the controls. You’re better off playing the game on easy.

Anyways, that wasn’t the point of the discussion.
And I agree that if there is a multi-platform game, I would easily play it on my PC first.
Its only because of games like The Last of Us and Red dead (which was on the xbox, but not PC) that make the PC a slightly worse choice.

But again, my question was regarding the new partnership, anyone, any real thoughts?

You won’t be getting it any time soon.

So does that mean Unity just started making it compatible with Playstation? Rather than it being already in development?

What about the ps3, I imagine it wouldn’t be to difficult to make a port for, considering there are already some Unity games on ps3. And Im pretty sure the Vita has a couple too, (Unit 13 and the black and white one)

I’ll just tell you now, unless you can throw around $60k for the Unity License, get registered with Sony as a developer, you won’t be developing for Sony Consoles.

No, I knew that was how it was before, but if you read anything about this huge contract, was on the top of IGN actually, its designed to be no different then the iOS license. Easy to set up, and submit. And rather then having to edit Unity itself, the controls will be built into unityscript.

Thats why I brought this up, its supposed to be simple to use, not like Wii deployment.

Are you sure? Make sure your sources are from UT or Sony anyone else is 99% likely to be wrong, ether making it how they want it, misreading what UT and Sony have said or just messing with it for a good story.

+1

Again, got it, we all have different opinions. I’m wrong your right blah blah.

Anyone know anything about the timeframe for PS development?

Timeframe? Depends how fast you work. But seriously, Sony won’t open their stores out to indie developers because it will become the next Google Play. Just forget about it. I can promise you there is no way it’s going to be priced or sold even remotely similar to iOS.

These are no necessarily saying that… The Wii-U one was nearly identical.

No, never said that, you attempted to state you’re opinion as fact

look like thisis a subject that is going to bring all sort of speculation ^^… for now and this is a fact you can developp for psvita and all mobile certified sony for 100$ a year if your country is valid to obtain the license…no unity just an xna like framework…

now about unity, and I am speculating here, but i feel that te last word about who and how much that will cost will be from sony…not unity…where unity just provide the tools it seem…

but wait and see…by the way I wont wait for more details news till the last quarter this year…I guess OUYA at this point is a more valid path and less “speculative”

So how does the Wii U thing work now? I’m assuming I can’t just buy a relatively cheap ($500 < ) license and use some built in unity programming like (input.theWiiUisinferiortoeverythingelse"cantwejustagreeonthat?") to build a Wii U game.

If I’m interpreting what they are saying correctly, it would be more of a mobile gaming type approach. But can someone tell me how the Wii U works now?

Remember the Wii U license announcement? A lot of people assumed that it would be an add-on license, not one that is exclusive to those who own a Wii U dev kit. A PlayStation add-on license would be nice, but it is incredibly unlikely unless Sony opens up and becomes a viable and profitable platform for the indie developer.

Well, I think we can agree that no one knows what Sony and UT meant by there ramblings and they probably deliberately made it that way.

Now, what makes you think the Wii-U is inferior to everything else?

Indie development is rocking the world. Sony knows that, it also knows that you make more money selling to gold miners than mining gold yourself. I see their plan, even if nobody else does.
