Any feedback on using Unity with 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro?

Hello fellow Unity people,

I’m looking to get a new MacBook Pro and wondered if anyone had any feedback on using one with Unity. Mainly for mobile development, AR and moderate 3D games in terms of graphics.

Looking at the spec:
15-inch MacBook Pro - Z0WV
Processor: 2.6GHz 6-core, 9th Generation Intel Core i7, Turbo boost up to 4.5GHz,
Graphics: Radeon Pro 560X with 4GB of GDDR5 memory
Memory: 32GB 2400MHZ DDR4
Storage: 512GB SSD

Any watch-outs or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

If you can go for a bigger ssd, I would recommend that, the sort of new way that the OS handles “space” is a little black box, that 512 can get chewed through very quickly if you don’t stay on it. But other than that, for those needs, it will do great. If you want more beef down the road for heavier projects or VR, an e-gpu will give you that.

That’s awesome thank you. That’s interesting about the e-gpu I didn’t realise. Is there one you would recommend for a VR project?

I’m a MBP user, and I honestly feel it’s a hard deal you walk into. If you hadn’t had said potential IOS dependent mobile games / apps I would have advised to run for the hills.

The standard laptop specs are laughable, I got suckered in a 128GB SD lol, totally regretting it. And the cost for the egpu and case will rocket up your budget, everything mac charges is extortionately priced.

I wouldn’t even consider doing VR on a macbook personally.
