Any good low poly model stores?

Hi,

I am going to likely invest in Cheeta3D , but dabble in Blender and GIMP…but I am not an animator, so would like to purchase some good low poly models I can use. The model packs at FPS Creator look great, but they are all PC based in .X format (so not even sure if I can open them on a Mac).

Can anyone recommend a good / cheap model site and advise me on what formats I need to get if I am working on a Mac (never used a Mac before). For example, when I see shops selling 3DS max format models…will this work on a Mac or a PC? Can I somehow convert .X files to work on a Mac version of blender of Cheeta 3D?

Help!!!

i

what you can do is to try to get/convert your .X’s to *.FBX files, those files can be read on Windows and Mac

A good model site i could suggest you can be:

also

these guys make models and they promote inside the Unity Forums

Hi Thanks,

I have bever used a Mac before and so dont even know if there are two types of file format, such as Mac (fbx) or PC (fbx)!!

There are some great models here, but I have also seen some really good and cheap direct X models at http://www.fpscreator.com - but these are (1) PC (2) Direct X…what would my path be to convert these from this format into Mac Cheeta3D…would I use UU3D to convert to FBX and then thats enough…i.e. I could run Windows in a VM and use UU3D as part of my workflow?

Also…I am assuming I can reduce the poly count easily enough to do iPhone dev with these models!!

Thanks

i

dont worry the fbx that works for windows, will also work on mac

yeah, if you can convert those .x from windows into a FBX it should work on mac

Turbosquid is always a good place to start

Did you see this thread?

Might get you started since you’re using Blender…

Hi,

Turbosquid looks great, even a lot of the low poly models are 6,000+ verts…!

It would be great if there was a model store catering for wireless devices…

Thanks!
