Any license required for commercial use of windows.speech?

Sorry if this is not the forum for this kind of question…
I couldn’t find any other suitable one.

I’m developing a Windows desktop app on Unity which use windows speech recognition feature (I believe that speech recognition feature is now included in the Win10 SDK).

Does anyone know if there is any additional licensing required for commercial use (selling to the customer) of the software developed with the windows speech recognition?

Thank you,

This is just an educated guess, but the speech recognition belongs to windows, so the user basically already paid for it. You are just using it as an available service, build on it and then sell your product to a user. Since the user cannot make use of the speech recognition without windows, but already paid for it when paying for windows, and you only build on top of it, there should be no additional fees required. This should go for any and all windows features, as well as other platforms.
Somebody will probably correct me in the next couple hours if i’m wrong. At least i couldnt find anything about licensing the speech recognition of Windows, and if they want you to buy something it should be easily findable.

Hi Yoreki,

Thank you for your quick reply.
I totally agree with you.

I will keep developing the app with windows speech.

Happy coding!

I use a non-commercial version and have used speech functions without any issues.
